While in Nepal for the 2019 foot trimming workshops, Elephant Aid International founder and CEO Carol Buckley spoke on elephant welfare at the 9th World Ranger Congress in Sauraha, which was hosted by the International Rangers Association and its affiliate, Protected Area Workers Association. The congress attracted 600 wildlife rangers from around the world.
Hundreds of rangers gathered to learn how anti-poaching elephants and human rangers share the same duties and needs. Many had no idea how important anti-poaching patrol elephants are to the security of wildlife in Chitwan National Park. Most were amazed to learn how similar their jobs are.
