The mugs are 5” tall with a 3” mouth opening. Celadon-style glaze creates a natural crackling effect. The glaze colors on these mugs are more intense than typical Celadon stoneware and range from a deep koamaru to light Columbia blue.
Celadon is a word meaning green high-fired stoneware with glaze cracks. The “crackles” creates beauty and value. The classic Celedon glaze is made entirely from natural materials (wood and ash) without ANY chemical pigments whatsoever! These mugs are made in the mountains of Northern Thailand in accordance with the traditional and ancient method by Sansai, a family owned company.
It usually takes 12 days to make one item. This Celadon has a color that is vibrant and the glaze is even. The mugs sit solidly on a flat surface and are truly a piece of usable art! As a result of the extra time taken for a precise color and fit, this Celadon is not widely seen or imported. The smallness of the factory limits the export ability and so this product is unique!
