Bo, a 37-year-old Asian elephant, has found a new lease on life since arriving at the Refuge in September 2021. Born in a breeding program at Busch Gardens in Tampa, FL, and spending most of his life in the circus, Bo now enjoys the freedom of a vast 850-acre habitat. He splashes in the rain, rolls in the mud, and explores the woods, pastures, streams, ponds, and lakes with his companions, Tarra and Mundi.
The cost of Bo's care for a year is $145,000, which covers his food, supplements, veterinary care, caregivers, and fuel for the 4-wheeler that makes multiple daily trips into the habitat to deliver food and care. Can you help care for Bo? Your donation makes a significant difference.
Bo is a gentle giant, thoughtful and kind, with a social nature and a wicked sense of humor. The bonds between Bo, Tarra, and Mundi have deepened, with Bo taking on a mentoring role for Mundi and forming a loving, trusting bond with Tarra. Bo, in his special way, has broken through Tarra’s fear, creating a unique and close relationship she never had with another elephant before.
By contributing to A Year of Care for Bo, you will become a cherished member of his family, ensuring his bright future.
Join us in giving this incredible elephant the care he deserves. Every donation counts and helps us provide the best life for Bo and the other elephants at the Refuge.
Every donation is greatly appreciated and helps us take care of the magnificent elephant residents under our care.
