Hundreds of large posts are going up around the elephant refuge in Attapulgus. Once they’re up — a handful of elephants can come. This is the second refuge [Carol] Buckley has founded. All 850 acres of the land will be for the elephants.

By the end of next year, elephants will be roaming an 850-acre land in South Georgia. The new elephant sanctuary, located about 30 miles northwest of Tallahassee in Decatur County, is taking over what was once a cattle ranch.
