About the Artist: Maritza Curet, originally from Mayagüez, Puerto Rico, is a socially engaged artist whose work weaves together symbolism, storytelling, and animal advocacy. While she continues with La Piedrita de Mundi series—hand-painted stones created to honor the call for Mundi’s freedom and raise awareness about the plight of captive animals in the closed Puerto Rico Zoo—her most recent creations carry that mission forward through a new medium.
