In honor of Tarra's third anniversary at the Refuge, we're pushing to reach our goal of $28,500 to fund a new concrete ramp for Elephant Lake.
Currently, the lake's soft mud entrance makes it difficult for the elephants to exit after a swim, leading Mundi and Tarra to avoid the water and causing Bo some discomfort in his hind legs afterward. A solid concrete ramp, similar to a boat ramp, will create a safe and easy pathway for all three elephants to enjoy the lake whenever they choose.
Elephants love bathing to cool off and for the sheer joy of being in the water. Watching them glide, splash, and vocalize shows just how much they delight in these moments. With a secure ramp, Bo, Mundi, and Tarra will have the freedom to enjoy this natural enrichment fully.
The project will take several days and require heavy equipment, including bulldozers, dump trucks, and concrete mixers. We're thrilled to share that a generous donor who prefers to remain anonymous has generously pledged to match every donation dollar for dollar until we reach our goal of doubling your impact.
By contributing to this project, you'll be helping give Bo, Tarra, and Mundi a gift of health and happiness in honor of Tarra's special milestone. Every dollar you donate brings us closer to completing the much-needed ramp for Elephant Lake.
Every donation is greatly appreciated and helps us take care of the magnificent elephant residents under our care.
